To the editor:
I am writing out of frustration given a recent incident. I have been a resident of this community for 13 years. Our mayor is committed to bring commerce into the area, so when issues such as the one described below surface, I feel they must be addressed immediately.
On several occasions, my son and his friends have been subjected to harsh treatment at TGI Fridays. They have either been over-charged or outright treated as lesser patrons, merely because of their age. I’m sure a crowd of between eight and 10 teens who are all 14 years in age is intimidating. Regardless, our children are well behaved, are driven to the restaurant and picked up with each having cellular phones to reach their parents.
To further aggravate a bad situation, several weeks earlier our son and his friends were asked to wait outside of the lobby of TGI Fridays after putting their name on a waiting list. Once outside, the local police asked them to either go inside or leave as they consider them loitering. My son’s friend stated that they had been asked to wait outside of the lobby due to overcrowding. This situation occurred because the manager of TGI Fridays has, on several occasions, contacted the local police to put them on notice for unruly teens.
I see no reason why management of any establishment should treat the general public with such disrespect.
I would appreciate if these incidents could be brought to the public’s attention. I have already written to the corporate ownership of TGI Fridays.
