EWING Robert William Allen, 78, died Friday, Nov. 23, at home.
Born in Trenton, he lived in Hopewell Township, Ewing and Florida.
Mr. Allen was an auto mechanic for Johnson/Colonial Cadillac in Trenton until 1970. He retired from Blackman’s Ford in Sebring, Fla., in 1983.
He was a Navy petty officer during World War II, serving as a radioman aboard the USS Champlin. His tour of duty included the American, European, African, Middle Eastern and Asiatic Pacific theaters.
He was a member of the Ewing Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7298, the Hope Baptist Church of East Windsor and the USS Champlin Reunion Group.
Son of the late Walter George and Flora Louise Butcher Allen and brother of the late Walter Jr., he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie Miller Allen; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Dorothy Allen of Pennington; three grandchildren, Robert W. Allen III, Deborah Culberson and Phillip Allen; two sisters, Louise Miller and Dorothy Eisler of Columbus; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alfred of Browns Mills, Carl and Joyce Hoagland of Lady of the Lakes, Fla., and Lillian Allen of Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, Pennington, with the Rev. Steve Braun, pastor of Hope Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Harbourton Cemetery, Harbourton.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.
