Eden to hold Eden Dreams 2002 gala benefit

Bohren’s United Van Lines in Robbinsville hosted a reception previewing this year’s Eden Dreams fund-raiser, "Dreams of Tir na nOg" (Gaelic for "land of the eternal youth"), to benefit children and adults with autism. The preview reception provided an insider’s view of the upcoming event, which will take place Saturday, Jan. 19.
"Dreams of Tir na nOg" (pronounced "cheer-nuh-nogg") is the fourteenth annual Eden Dreams gala, a white-tie dinner/dance held at the Hyatt Regency Princeton. Each year the theme of the event represents a time or place that can be visited only through one’s imagination — or through Eden Dreams.
"Dreams of Tir na nOg" will take participants on a journey through the mists of time to an ancient wood of enchanted knolls and fairy kingdoms. Guest will also have the chance to solve the annual Dream Search puzzle for a fantastic prize.
Ted Froehlich, president of Bohren’s United Van Lines in Robbinsville, welcomed the preview gathering of 100 for drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the company’s warehouse, which was transformed into an enchanted forest for the occasion.
A company or individual who donates a minimum of $6,000 will qualify for the Eden Dreams Honorary Committee, which will entitle the donor to a variety of benefits, including additional seats at the gala, invitations to a special VIP reception, and public recognition opportunities in the program booklet.
Eden Dream’s actors, who will be featured in full force at the January gala, treated preview reception guests to a performance. The actors provided the first two clues to this year’s Dream Search, "In Search of Valoia," the mighty oak that guards the gates of Tir na nOg.
The Dream Search is one of the more popular and intriguing aspects of Eden Dreams. Part riddle, quest and challence, the Dream Search asks guests to thread their way through an intellectual labyrinth of clues to try and divine the correct answer (or answers) to a theme-related puzzle. The winner is rewarded with honors and a spectacular prize.
Another exciting aspect of Eden Dreams is a silent auction featuring a limited number of prize packages. This year’s prizes will include "Date Night" — a year’s worth of gift certificates to restaurants, movies and theater performances, as well as monthly flower deliveries; lunch with Beverly Sills in New York City; a golf outing at the Tournament Players Club at Jasna Polana, tickets to "The Producers" on Broadway and many more.
Individual seats at "Dreams of Tir nOg" are $300. Guardian sponsorships begin at $4,000. Seating is limited so guests are urged to make their reservations early.
All proceeds will benefit Eden Family of Services, which works to serve the lifespan needs of children and adults with autism.
