WW-P school groups finding ways to spread cheer

Students, teachers and school organizations throughout the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District are involved in a variety of activities to spread more than warm wishes to those less fortunate this holiday season.
The student councils of both West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North and South are participating in a holiday toy drive sponsored by Catholic Charities. So far students, parents and teachers from both schools have contributed about $2,400 so that toys can be bought and distributed to families in need in Trenton next week.
The Interact Club at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North is taking part in three different holiday projects. The group is participating in the Plainsboro Township Police Department’s "Toys for Tots" drive by collecting gifts for teen-agers, fulfilling the wish lists of eight children as part of the Princeton Corridor Rotary’s annual gift-giving event and creating holiday baskets for teen-agers at Anchor House, a home for runaways in Trenton.
Olga Choquette, a teacher at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South, and her senior language arts class collected coats and winter clothing for Anchor House.
Two classes from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North plan to go to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen next week. Lorraine Seiben’s language arts class and Donna Joyce’s international foods class plan on donating fruitcakes and helping prepare and serve food for the patrons.
The Community Middle School Student Council just completed a food drive for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and collected about 3,800 items.
Thomas R. Grover Middle School is collecting a forest of hats, mittens, gloves and scarves on trees in the main lobby for children involved in the Angel’s Wings program, an emergency foster home at St. Francis Hospital in Trenton.
Students at the Maurice Hawk School organized a similar giving tree for less fortunate local families and all the gifts that have been collected will be delivered next week.
