The Monmouth Gymnastics Academy Cyclones opened their competitive season at the state qualifier in Cherry Hill. Benjamin Daniel won the Level 6 all-around (52.2) in the 7-year-old age group. The MGA gymnast also won the vault (9.5) and parallel bars (9.1), and took second on the rings (8.7) and third on the pommel horse.

Also in Level 6, in the 8-year-old division, Connor Harrington was fourth in the all-around (54.1). Harrington, however, did win two individual event titles, capturing the rings (9.6) and high bar (9.4). He also took third on the vault (9.3). Garrett DeSantis was third in the Level 5 AA (45.5) in the 8-year-old division. He had third places on the horse (7.3) and rings (7.7).

In Level 4, Billy Schiels was sixth in the AA (44.9) followed in seventh by teammate Ryan Harrington (44.6) in the 10-11 age group. In the 12 and Up, Level 4 age group, Joseph Yellin was ninth in the all-around (43.85), but won the pommel horse (8.3).

Also competing for the Morganville-based MGA were: Matthew Daniel (Level 6, age 9), Alex Szelest (Level 6, age 8), and Brandon Coulson (Level 4, age 10). Daniel was fourth on the vault (9.2), and Szelest medaled on the vault after a 9.2 earned him ninth place.

At the Future Stars National Championships in Colorado, MGA’s Steven Crabtree was 11th in the all-around (76.7) in the 12-year-old division, while Vincent Smurro was seventh in the AA (77.5) in the 10-11 age group.
