The Monroe Township Community Center is offering a variety of winter programs. Registration forms are available in the lobby of the center, 120 Monmouth Road. Programs are open to township residents. Registration is limited.
A Jolly Time preschool program, open to children ages 2-5, will take place on Mondays, Jan. 7-Feb. 25. Sessions will be held from 10-11 a.m. for ages 2-3 and 11 a.m. to noon for ages 3-5. The play group will provide time for songs, art and trips. Fee is $30.
Don Vitale will conduct a martial arts karate class for youngsters ages 6 years through high school, 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Jan. 29. Fee is $40. Uniforms will be available for purchase.
"It’s Gym Time" for preschoolers ages 2-5 will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 2-Feb. 20. Sessions are set for 9:15-9:55 a.m. or 9:55-10:35 a.m. for 2-year-olds, 10:35-11:15 a.m. for ages 3-5. Fee is $50.
A variety of aerobics classes are available for high school students and adults. Sessions are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Fees range from $20-$35.
A co-ed body sculpting program is scheduled for 8-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Feb. 20 and 10:30-11 a.m. on Saturdays, Jan. 5-March 9. Participants must bring their own 2- to 5-pound weights. Fee is $15.
Beginner and intermediate baton twirling for youngsters ages 5 years through high school is set for 6-7 p.m. on Fridays through Jan. 25. Fee is $35.
Hip-hop/gymnastics classes for youngsters ages 5-16 will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Fridays through Jan. 25. Fee is $35.
An open gym for residents in fourth grade-high school is planned for 3-5 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, at the community center. Basketball games, table tennis, table hockey and other games will be available. Participants must have a valid community center identification card.
"Shoot the Hoops Basketball," open to ages 18 and older, will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. on Tuesdays at the center. Program is free of charge.
