Lakewood junior Da’Leyna Adkinson made the most of competing in her first indoor track and field meet.
Adkinson won the open 400-meters in a time of 1:01.2 on Saturday at the Fairleigh Dickinson Holiday Classic.
"She looked great, being it was her first indoor meet," Lakewood coach Jack Boylan said. "She ran a great race. She turned it on down the stretch to win. We’re very proud of the way she handled herself."
The Lady Piners 4 x 800-meter relay team placed third. The combination of Danielle Robinson, Lauren Kelly, Jen Dolan and Erin Cunliffe posted a time of 10:51.
Jocelyn Kearney was third in the shot put with a toss of 35 feet 11 inches. Captain Kyshia McIntyre was fourth with a toss of 34-2.
For the boys, Edmond Loney, a running back on the football team, placed third in the 55 meters with a personal-best time of 6.7 seconds.
The 4 x 400-relay team of Jamal Andrews, Rob Turner, Dave Wise and Mike Wittenburg finished third with a time of 3:41.
Sydney Murray was fifth in shot put with a personal-best toss of 49 feet 2 inches.
"We’re extremely happy with the way our teams performed last weekend," Boylan said. "We’re excited about what the future holds in store for Lakewood track and field."
Meanwhile, at the Bishop Loughlin Games on Saturday in Edison, Jackson High School senior Ray Brown won the shot put with a toss of 55 feet 7 inches.
