The Sayreville Recreation Department wrestling A and C teams fought hard at the annual Fords Holiday Wrestling Tournament, with the "A" team taking third place overall, while the "C" team took fourth place. Gary Siriday, Ian Paul, Shawn Dahl, Glenn Lucas, Dan Brereton and Matt Gruytch all took second-place finishes for the A Team, while Tom Munier, Jesse Moat, Dominick Forcella, Dan Bergfeldt, John Millello, Gino Schifano and Scott Kominkiewicz all finished third. Kyler Hourahan won fourth-place honors. For Sayreville recreation’s "C" Team, Dan Donan, Josh Casiano, Justin Casiano and Billy Johnson took second-place medals, while Tyler Scott, Chris Ronan, Andrew Veins, Rob Bermingham, Rick Roland and Nick Richiusa finished third, and Zack Johnson, Luke McNally, Rich Termyna, Chris Pearson and Jim Midgley all took home fourth-place prizes.
The Sayreville High School Bomber Cheerleaders finished in first place in the Super Large Varsity Mount Division at the COA cheerleading championships on Dec. 15 at Old Bridge High School. The Bombers scored an 85.5 in their first-place championship win and qualified for the National Championships to be held early next year.
Former Edison High School baseball coach Jim Muldowney, along with former Chicago White Sox pitcher Bill Lehman, will be conducting a series of spring training baseball camps for players ages 7-15 in February and March in Spotswood. The emphasis will be on the teaching of fundamentals in pitching, hitting and fielding. A softball camp for girls ages 7-15 will also be held in March. For more information, call (732) 821-0271.
