AROUND CRANBURY

I’m sure anyone who has sampled the fare at Bread & Life will agree that the shop is a wonderful addition to the downtown.
Christie Chisholm, proprietor of Bread & Life, cordially invites everyone in town to join her for an afternoon of caroling in front of the shop on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Christie will serve hot chocolate, cider and cookies.
Stop by and join in the holiday fun!
An exhibit of photographs taken at the Town Hall dedication are on display at the Gourgaud Gallery through the end of December.
Betty Wagner, Pari Stave and Kathy Wiesel have pored over hundreds of photographs taken at the Oct. 14 dedication and have framed many for the display.
The gallery, which is located in Town Hall, is open Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cranbury’s favorite crossing guard, Myrna Doggett, offers this message to the children and parents of town.
"I want to give a special thanks to a very special mom and to all the moms, dads, children, Cranbury Housing Associates and friends in town for their loving, generous gift that was given to me.
"Words can never express the real gratitude that I feel toward you all. Thanks for all your love and support."
We all wish Mrs. Doggett that very best of health and happiness in the coming year!
Resident hockey coach and enthusiast, Joe Addonizio, is just one of the many Cranbury residents eagerly awaiting the opening of the new skating rink in Village Park.
Joe has coached kids’ hockey for many years and plans to be out on the ice bright and early with his own daughter as soon as the weather gets cold enough to freeze the new rink.
He called recently to offer his services to anyone who’d like to get their child skating, by offering free, informal lessons.
Interested parents can call Joe at (609) 409-0226 and arrange to meet him at the park.
He also thinks older kids who can skate make great teachers and welcomes them to help out on the ice.
Now if only someone would organize an ice-skate swap.
Congratulations to Kyle Robinson, a second-grader at Cranbury School, who earned his first-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo on Dec. 8.
Kyle began his training at the age of 4 under Master Yoon Kak Kim, himself an eighth-degree black belt and head of the U.S. National TaeKwonDo team.
To earn his degree, Kyle had to demonstrate mastery of complex forms and self-defense techniques, spar with other black-belt candidates, break three boards with a single hand strike, and three more with successive kicks.
Very impressive, wouldn’t you agree?
Rumor has it the Rogers of South Main Street took their cue from Rockefeller Center this year when choosing their Christmas tree.
Apparently you can’t see the family room for the tree.
Friends are looking forward to the end of the holiday season, when Bob or Barbara will need to take chain saw in hand to reclaim the den.
Happy holidays everyone!
