A Red Bank woman was discovered brutally stabbed to death in her Tilton Avenue home Saturday.

Yvette Bacon, 34, was discovered suffering from numerous stab wounds at 58 Tilton Ave. Also at the scene was her boyfriend, Alex Grant, 35, who had been stabbed numerous times, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor John Kaye.

Bacon’s body was found by her mother, Brenda Mae Bacon, who also lived at the Tilton Avenue location.

Brenda Bacon arrived home, found the door ajar, and "the dog was raising a ruckus," according to the prosecutor. Upon entering the home she saw the two bodies lying on the floor, Kaye said.

"Mr. Grant was frothing at the mouth," Kaye said.

Borough police received the 911 emergency call at approximately 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, Kaye said.

Yvette Bacon was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Grant was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, where he is currently listed in serious condition, the prosecutor said.

The autopsy conducted the following day indicated that Bacon was stabbed 12 times, primarily in the chest and abdomen area, and death occurred due to those wounds, Kaye said.

Grant, who lived with Bacon and also goes by the name Alex Antonio Grant-Johnson, is considered a suspect in Bacon’s murder, but authorities have not filed any charges because they have not had an opportunity to question him due to his injuries, Kaye said.

Kaye said that according to the victim’s mother, Bacon and Grant "were arguing for a week," and the incident may have been an outgrowth of that arguing.

But, Kaye also said, the victim’s mother described Grant as being "pretty mild mannered," and said she did not believe Grant capable of such an act.

The investigation is continuing with the cooperation of borough police and the Prosecutor’s Office, and the borough police are currently guarding Grant while he is hospitalized. If Grant is charged, the responsibility for guarding him while he remains hospitalized comes under the jurisdiction of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, according to the prosecutor.

The Prosecutor’s Office this year has instituted a policy where all interrogations involving a homicide are videotaped. And in keeping with that policy, Kaye said video equipment has been placed at the hospital, waiting for the authorities to interview Grant.

"We have the equipment available when and if we can speak to him," Kaye noted.

The Tilton Avenue residence has been taped off by the police who are monitoring the crime scene.

A neighbor who declined to be identified said he found Bacon and Grant to be very quiet neighbors, and was unaware of the situation until the police arrived.

Bacon, who was the mother of four children, was called "a devoted mother," by the neighbor.

"I always saw her with her kids," the neighbor said.
