Alchemist Theatre
to perform 2001 revue
The Alchemist Theatre Company of North Brunswick Township High School has announced its annual winter production "Theatre Revue 2001." The production is a compilation of skits and numbers from theater, television and movies that are chosen, directed and performed by students.
This year’s production will include pieces from Footloose, Annie Get Your Gun, Good Will Hunting, Saturday Night Live, Seussical and Charlie Brown.
The show will be performed Jan. 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. at the high school at Raider Road and Route 130. Tickets are $7, and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be obtained 45 minutes prior to curtain call.

RSVP seeking senior tutors for reading
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Middlesex County, New Brunswick, is seeking senior (age 55 and older) tutors who wish to help children learn to read. Male and female tutors will be matched with a child, with the child’s school providing training, materials and guidance. Tutors are needed for approximately two hours per week. See ‘Best of Broadway POPS’ at NJPAC Feb. 7
The North Brunswick Senior Center, 15 Linwood Place, will offer a trip to see the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra perform "Best of Broadway POPS" Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. The concert will be at the N.J. Performing Arts Center, Newark.
Cost is $36 per person for transportation and ticket. The performance will include tunes from West Side Story, The King and I, Carousel and other plays.
The trip will depart from the senior center, or door-to-door transportation will be provided if needed. Call (732) 418-2222.
Nominees sought for recognition awards
The North Brunswick Department of Human Services (DHS) is currently seeking nominations for its Grandparent of the Year and Good Neighbor awards. Nomination deadline is Feb. 1.
The Grandparent award recognizes grandparents who have made an outstanding difference in the lives of their grandchildren. The department will also consider nominations recommending nonrelated adults who have acted as surrogate grandparents.
The neighbor award seeks to recognize friends and neighbors who have gone above and beyond with acts of kindness.
Nominations must be a one-page, typed explanation and must include the name, address, and phone number for both the nominee and the nominator. Nominations may be dropped off or mailed to Leslie G. Mac Neill at DHS at 710 Hermann Road. For more information, call Leslie at (732) 247-0922, ext. 475.
