Charles Hewins Jr.

   EAST BRUNSWICK — Charles Hewins Jr., 53, died Dec. 20 at home.
   Born in Princeton, he lived in Hightstown many years before moving to East Brunswick 23 years ago.
   He graduated from Hightstown High School in 1966 and served in the Army from 1967 to 1969.
   He worked 27 years with McGraw Hill, Hightstown.
   Mr. Hewins was an officer of the East Windsor Trophy Hunter’s Club and member of the American Legion Post in Kendall Park and First United Methodist Church of Hightstown.
   He was a sportsman who enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, darts and softball.
   He was the official caretaker of Camp Daisy 23 years.
   Son of the late Jeannette Marple Hewins, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Joe; his father, Charles Hewins Sr. of Hightstown; five brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard of New Jersey, David and Carole Hewins of Hightstown, Paul of Cranbury, Mark of Ewing and Michael of Phoenix; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Robert Catterton of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bonnie and Kevin Bixby of Kernersville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
   Funeral was Monday at Glackin/Saul Funeral Home, Hightstown.
   Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown.
