for murder in R.B.
Authorities have charged the victim’s boyfriend in connection with the recent murder of a Tilton Avenue, Red Bank, woman.
Alex Antonio Grant, 35, a Costa Rican national, was charged with murdering his girlfriend, Yvette Bacon, 34, 58 Tilton Ave., Dec. 15, according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Robert A. Honecker Jr.
Bacon was discovered stabbed to death in her home by her mother, Brenda Mae Bacon, who also lives at that location. The victim’s mother also found Grant, who is believed to have lived there as well, in the home, having been stabbed numerous times.
Grant is currently hospitalized at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, where he is listed in stable condition by the medical center, and is being guarded by members of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, Honecker said.
As soon as his condition permits, the prosecutor said, Grant will be transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold Township.
In addition to murder, Grant was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. The complaint was by Detective Sgt. Richard Coutu of the borough’s Police department, Honnecker said.
Bail was set at $1 million by state Superior Court Judge Michael D. Farren, he added.
As to what may have transpired between Bacon and Grant, Honnecker declined to speculate, and would only say it is still under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office and the borough’s Police Department.
Honecker did acknowledge the home did "look like there had been an altercation," he said.
Authorities also recovered a large kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon, Honnecker said.
