Freehold Township Parks and Recreation is looking to fill the position of tennis instructor. The tennis programs begin in mid-spring and run through the summer months on the township’s outdoor courts. Several levels of lessons ranging from preschool to senior citizen are available. The Manalapan Baseball Association will be holding open registration for its spring baseball and softball season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at Pine Brook School, Manalapan. Registration is open to boys age 6-18 (as of July 31, 2001) and girls between age 6-15 (as of Jan. 1, 2002) who are Manalapan residents. The Jersey Nightmare, a Central Jersey-based girls fast-pitch softball organization, is holding open tryouts to complete their 12U (born 1989 or later) roster on Jan. 17 and 19 for the 2002 season. The Nightmare is an established program looking for dedicated players. The team has indoor practices during the winter. The Freehold Phantoms, an U-16 boys soccer team, will be holding tryouts this month for the upcoming spring season. To be eligible participants need to have been born after Aug. 31, 1985.
