Brittany Anne Heil, 11, of Manalapan will be playing soccer in Europe this summer as a member of the United Soccer Academy national team. The team will be playing in Denmark, Sweden and England.
The newest members of the Monmouth Gymnastics Cyclones boys gymnastic team opened their season at the Level 7 State Qualifier held in Cherry Hill. Emanuel Fradkin led the Cyclone effort with an impressive second place in the all-around (35.9).
Fradkin also got a first place, capturing the parallel bars with a 9.8 score. He was second on the still rings after a 9.1 score. Brendan Magee was fourth on the high bar (9.2) and sixth on the parallel bars (9.0). D.J. Orlando was seventh on the parallel bars (9.0) and Daniel Khomenko, fourth on the rings (8.8).
Also competing and performing well for the Cyclones were Thomas Barlotta, Brian Magee, Matthew Mannino, Daniel Masterov and Chad Stimpson.
The 95th running of the Verizon Millrose Games in Madison Square Garden, New York City, will be held Feb. 1. The Millrose Games are the top indoor track and field meet on the USATF’s Golden Spike Tour and the oldest running sports event in the Garden’s history. Over the years such track and field giants as Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Sergey Bubka, Eamonn Coghlan, Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Mary Decker-Slaney have competed and won the Millrose title. The famed Wanamaker Mile remains the featured event of the Games.
