A Pennsylvania man, who was pulled over by Hopewell Township police because one of his pickup truck’s taillights was not working properly, is being held in the Mercer County Correction Center for allegedly stealing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) from a dealership in the Poconos area of Pennsylvania.
Having failed to post 10 percent of $5,000 cash bail, Richard Ianvale, 39, of Brodheadsville, Pa., is incarcerated at the Mercer County Correction Center as the county prosecutor’s office continues the investigation of the case.
Mr. Ianvale was pulled over at 6 a.m. Friday by Patrolman James Hoffman, who saw that one of the pickup’s taillights was not working properly.
Patrolman Hoffman questioned Mr. Ianvale about the blue 2000 Yamaha ATV that was in his pickup truck. Patrolman Hoffman then checked the ATV’s vehicle identification number on his police cruiser’s computer and learned that it had been reported stolen. He also learned that Mr. Ianvale was wanted on criminal warrants from five other jurisdictions.
Patrolman Hoffman thereupon arrested Mr. Ianvale and charged him with possession of stolen property.
