Beethoven Trio featured in next Chamber Music Society show

Audiences have been the beneficiaries of the rich musical collaboration which has marked the 2001/2002 season of The Red Bank Chamber Music Society.

Leon Knize, founder of the chamber society, and pianist Vladislav Kovalsky, director of the Monmouth Conservatory of Music, have been joined by the Amabile String Quartet, quartet in residence at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, and the Raritan Winds, an ensemble composed of faculty members at Mason Gross.

Three concerts remain in the chamber society season, all scheduled to take place at the Performing Arts Center at Brookdale Community College in the Lincroft section of Middletown.

On Feb. 16, the society will present a program, including the Beethoven Trio, Opus 11, for clarinet, cello and piano; Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A minor for string quartet; and Thuille Sextet, Opus 6, for woodwind quintet and piano. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

A concert on April 28 will feature a Schubert quintet for string quartet and cello; a Mozart piano quartet for piano and string quartet; and Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 for piano and string quartet. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

A Dvorak serenade, Opus 44 for winds, cello and contrabass, will open the June 22 concert. Also, Brahms’ Serenade No. 2, Opus 10 in A major, for winds, viola, cello and contrabass; and Mozart’s Serenade No. 12, K388, in C minor, for eight winds will be performed. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

The concerts are presented free of charge as a gift to the community from Red Bank Volvo, Volvo Cars of North America and chamber society supporters. Requests for tickets must include the date of the concert, number of tickets, stamped, self-addressed envelope, telephone number. A separate request must be sent for each concert.
