Lifestyle at Four Seasons attracting good friends

It only took two trips to make a decision to join the community

The only reason that Phil and Phyllis Mischner even went to K. Hovnanian’s Four Seasons at Upper Freehold was to keep a friend company while he looked at the community. And their friend did buy a new home — just a few doors away from the home the Mischners purchased.
"He said, ‘You want to take a ride?’ I said sure! But I never thought I’d move into an active-adult community," said Mr. Mischner. "That’s not me. I like kids around."
So Mr. Mischner and his friend, Walter Nerlick, arrived and looked at K. Hovnanian’s Four Seasons at Upper Freehold. To his surprise, Mr. Mischner loved the community. He returned a short time later with his wife, Phyllis. As the Mischners examined the community, they liked everything they saw. In fact, it only took two trips to make a decision to join the community.
"I like the way the community has been planned," said Mr. Mischner. "It’s small, it’s a brand new community, it’s around horse farms and it’s near a quaint little town. It’s a nice area to drive around or to ride our bikes. It’s really pretty."
Nobody was more surprised by the decision to move than the Mischners. After all, they had lived in East Windsor for 20 years. Their two daughters and one grandchild were in the area as were Mr. Mischner’s sisters. Their home also was convenient to their jobs. Mr. Mischner manages a team of tax preparers in Somerville and Mrs. Mischner works in retail in East Brunswick.
"It’s a new start," he explained. "It’s exciting."
He says they’re eager to take advantage of the community’s features, including the state-of-the-art clubhouse with its indoor swimming pool and fully equipped fitness center. Mr. Mischner says he’ll use the facilities to improve his physical condition.
Most of all, he says, he and Mrs. Mischner are looking forward to continuing to be near friends and family while doing all the exciting things involved with moving into a new home and community.
