Herman Durr Jr.
CHESTERFIELD Herman Durr Jr., 77, died Jan. 29 at Marcella Nursing Center, Burlington.
Born in Mansfield, he lived in Chesterfield since 1953.
He was a dairy and grain farmer and co-owned Durr Farms Inc.
Mr. Durr was president and vice president of the Burlington County Board of Agriculture and president and honorary director of the board of directors of the Burlington County Farm Fair Association.
He also was president and vice president of the board of directors of United Milk Producers of New Jersey and vice chairman of the New York-New England Dairy Coordinating Committee.
He was a past master of the Wrightstown Grange and a longtime member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau.
Mr. Durr served three terms on the Chesterfield Township Committee and was mayor three years.
He was a member of the Chesterfield Township planning board and environmental commission, the Chesterfield Hose Co. for more than 40 years and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Bordentown.
Son of the late Herman L. and Mildred Burtis Durr and brother of the late John and Dorothy Durr, he is survived by his wife, Marguerite A. Durr; a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Giacomo Guarnaccia of Connecticut; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Carol Durr of Chesterfield, David and Joanne Durr of Gettysburg, Pa., and James Durr and fiancee Lisa Popik of Chesterfield; a sister, Elizabeth Ley of Medford; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Bordentown.
Entombment was in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Bordentown.
Calling hours were held at Huber-Moore Funeral Home, Bordentown.

Mary T. Arvanetis
BORDENTOWN CITY Mary T. Arvanetis, 85, died Jan. 30 at Mercerville Care Center.
Born in Trenton, she lived in Bordentown for 39 years.
She retired after 25 years as a machine operator with General Motors Corp., Ewing.
Daughter of the late Ermino and Aurelia Santoro Penelli, sister of the late Anna, Roland, Fred and John Valenza and wife of the late Christopher P. Arvanetis, she is survived by two nieces, Roselie Szmauz and husband, Gene, of Hamilton and Barbara Brown of Ewing; two nephews, James Valenza and wife Gail of Arizona and Charley Valenza and wife Michelle of Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, Charles Valenza Sr.; a sister-in-law, Irene Stamos; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Burns, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Ethel B. Bell
OCEAN CITY Ethel B. Bell, 96, died Jan. 28 at The Shores of Wesley Manor.
Born in Handley, England, she moved to New Jersey at age 4, and lived in Hamilton before moving to Ocean City.
She retired as a staff mother from the Marie Katzenback School for the Deaf.
She was a member of the Hamilton Township Police Wives Association, Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church and its choir, and the Morning Star Order of the Order of the Eastern Star at Gothic Lodge.
Daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Parks Bently, mother of the late David L. Bell, stepmother of the late Edith Clay Bentley, sister of the late Ann Cordwell, Nellie Pierce and Louis, William, Harry, John and James Bentley and wife of the late Daniel Bell, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Gabel of Bordentown; a son, Daniel A. Bell of Yardville; a granddaughter, Heather Bell of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Karyn Bell of Hopewell; two sisters-in-law, Norma Bentley and Rose Bentley of Hamilton; and a niece, Maryann and husband Ed Hausman.
The funeral was held at Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roderick B. Mills officiating.
Burial was in Colonial Memorial Park.

Lester A. Boyd
BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP Lester A. Boyd, 94, of Leisuretown, died Jan. 30 at Burlington Woods Convalescent Center.
Born in Medford, he was a longtime area resident.
He retired as the owner of F.R. Boyd Feed Store in Mount Holly and as a supervisor for the Burlington County Highway Department.
He was a member of Jacobstown Baptist Church and clubs in Leisuretown.
Husband of the late Dorothy Boyd and father of the late William, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Carol Dudley of Lewisville, Texas, and Fred Boyd of Hammonton and Brenda Boyd of Edgewater Park; two nieces, Shirley Diaczynsky of Mount Holly and Ruth Ash of Florida; a granddaughter, Suzanne Trumpy of Lewisville; three grandsons, Michael Boyd and wife, Stephanie, of Florence, Matthew Boyd and wife, Melissa, of Edgewater Park and Mark Boyd of Trenton; and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at Jacobstown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ed Hlad officiating.
Burial was in Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt.
