Edith F. DeGrave
   Edith F. DeGrave, 94, died Friday at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.
   Born in Titusville, she was a lifelong area resident.
   She retired from the payroll department of the state of New Jersey. She was a lifelong member of Titusville United Methodist Church, Hopewell Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of Union Fire and Rescue Squad (Titusville); and member of the Amigos Association of Mercer County.
   Daughter of the late John H. and Isabella Tice Force, wife of the late Lawrence J. DeGrave, sister of the late Carlton E., J. Chester and Edward Force and Alberta Potts, and aunt of the late Gail Stepp, she is survived by three nephews and their wives, Arthur C. and Thelma Force of Strasburg, Pa., Robert W. and Anna Marie Force of Harbourton, John D. and Sonia Force of Flemington; and two nieces, Belle C. Weeks of Halifax, Pa., Wynelle S. Force of Titusville.
   Funeral was Wednesday at Titusville United Methodist Church, Route 29 and Church Road, with the Rev. William H. Jacobsen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Titusville Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle.

Alice L. Reside
   Alice L. Reside, 95, died Jan. 31 at Capital Health System at Mercer hospital, Trenton.
   Born in Shenandoah, Pa., she lived in the area 73 years.
   Wife of the late Samuel D. Reside, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John S. and Julia Reside of Pennington and Richard A. Reside of Deming, N.M.; a sister, Florence Miller of Ewing; and two granddaughters, Melissa Reside of Hamilton and Tammy Schmitz of Ocean County.
   Funeral was Monday at Blackwell Memorial Home, Pennington, with the Rev. William McQuoid, pastor of Pennington Presbyterian Church, officiating.
   Burial was in Ewing Church Cemetery.
Merton M. Reed
   Merton M. Reed, 83, died Friday at Plaza Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the Windrows.
   Born in Chicopee, Mass., he lived in Brewster, Mass., 20 years before moving to Hopewell Township in 1996.
   He had been a shellfish warden in Brewster and an accountant with Uniroyal Corp. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving in the Atlantic.
   Husband of the late Lois N. Reed, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Stuart Koch of Hopewell Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Margaret Reed of Waldorf, Md.; and two grandchildren, Stacey Burd and husband Erick of Titusville and Adam Koch and wife Marika of Pittsburgh.
   Funeral and burial were private.
Theresa Elizabeth Jarvis
   Theresa Elizabeth Jarvis, 73, died Jan. 31 at home.
   Born in Trenton, she lived in the Hopewell area 48 years.
   Daughter of the late George L. and Clara E. Bennett, she is survived by her husband, Walter F. Jarvis; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynda Jarvis and Susan and Joseph Hagstrom; two brothers, Floyd and Marvin Bennett; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Jarvis; and a granddaughter, Lyndsay Hagstrom.
   Funeral was private. Burial was in Ewing Cemetery.
Dorothy Schmidt
   Dorothy Schmidt, 65, of Hopewell Township died Jan. 31 at home.
   Born in Vienna, Austria, she lived in New York City and Cambridge, Mass., before moving to the Princeton area in 1973.
   She was a graduate of Barnard College and received a master’s degree in psychology from Boston University. She was a counselor and court advocate at Womanspace, working with victims of domestic violence. She worked on psychology research projects at Princeton, Columbia and Rutgers universities and on programmed instruction in B.F. Skinner’s laboratory at Harvard University. She served on the boards of Community Guidance Center and the Reading and Recreation Program as a Girl Scout leader. She was a United Way panel member, an organizer of special events for the PTO, and volunteer for The Medical Center at Princeton and Hands Across America.
   Daughter of the late Paul and Ilse Schneider, she is survived by her husband, John Schmidt; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul Schmidt and Eric and Tracy Schmidt of New York; a daughter, Karen Schmidt of North Arlington; a grandson, Philip; a brother, Peter Schneider of Worcester, Mass.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stephen J. Vlasac
   Stephen J. Vlasac, 83, died Jan. 27 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
   Born in Trenton, he was a longtime resident before moving to Bordentown 32 years ago.
   He worked for John A. Roebling’s Sons Co. 12 years and retired from the patent department at RCA David Sarnoff Research Center after 22 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Greek Catholic Union and AARP.
   Son of the late George and Elizabeth Cifranic Vlasac and husband of the late Mary V. Simko Vlasac, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven M. and Sharon Vlasac of Hamilton Square and John M. and Karen Vlasac of Titusville; three grandchildren, John M., Wendy and Kristin Mancini; two nieces, Celest Wood and Doris Hartmann; a nephew, Ray Ciberey; and a sister-in-law, Ann Simko.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Ada M. Borne
   Ada M. Borne, 87, died Jan. 30 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
   Born in Newark, she was a longtime area resident.
   She was a homemaker and avid football fan. Mrs. Borne was a former member of Grace Baptist Church, Trenton.
   Daughter of the late William J. and Carolyn E. Phillips Miller and wife of the late Richard J. Borne, she is survived by a daughter, Carol Borne Czahur of Bordentown; a son, Richard E. Borne of Hamilton; a sister, Elizabeth Baker of Harbourton; three grandchildren, Erica, Michael and Gregory Czahur; and two nieces, a nephew, three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
   Funeral and burial in Ewing Cemetery were private.

Ethel B. Bell
   Ethel B. Bell, 96, died Jan. 28 at The Shores of Wesley Manor.
   Born in Handley, England, she moved to New Jersey at age 4, and lived in Hamilton before moving to Ocean City.
   She retired as a staff mother from Marie Katzenback School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Hamilton Township Police Wives Association, Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church and its choir, and the Morning Star Order of the Order of the Eastern Star at Gothic Lodge.
   Daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Parks Bently, mother of the late David L. Bell, stepmother of the late Edith Clay Bentley, sister of the late Ann Cordwell, Nellie Pierce and Louis, William, Harry, John and James Bentley and wife of the late Daniel Bell, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Gabel of Bordentown; a son, Daniel A. Bell of Yardville; a granddaughter, Heather Bell of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, Karyn Bell of Hopewell; two sisters-in-law, Norma Bentley and Rose Bentley of Hamilton; and a niece, Maryann and husband Ed Hausman.
   Funeral was Friday at Pearson Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roderick B. Mills officiating. Burial was in Colonial Memorial Park.
