John Wayne Fitzpatrick, 57, of Sumter, S.C., died Saturday, Feb. 9, at Providence Hospital in Providence, S.C.
He was born in Plainfield.
He served in the Navy, and was an active EMT with the Monroe Township Rescue Squad for over 15 years. He was an avid supporter of local law-enforcement and EMS systems.
His parents, John Phillip Fitzpatrick and Anna (Carnelle) Fitzpatrick are deceased. His first wife, Patricia "Pat" Quinn Fitzpatrick, also is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, Pamelah Parker Fitzpatrick; his mother, Anna Fitzpatrick of Somerville; a son, Sumter Sheriff’s Department Senior Deputy James R. Fitzpatrick of Sumter; two sisters, Kathy Bausum of Port Richie, Fla., and Joanne Scharnikow of Metuchen and two stepsons, EMS Major Gene C. Hancock of Dalzell, S.C., and EMS Deputy Charles A. Hancock of Sumter. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home in Sumter.
