Emergency department to discuss preparedness
Millstone Township Community Education will sponsor a presentation by the Millstone Emergency Management Department from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Millstone Middle School library. The program will provide an overview of the department’s role, provide up-to-date information on responses to current conditions, and answer questions about being prepared for emergencies. Daffodils to help raise funds for cancer society
The American Cancer Society again is offering daffodils as special gifts for friends, family, co-workers and designated cancer care facilities. Donations will support lifesaving cancer research, as well as cancer education, prevention, treatment and programs for patients and their families.
Items include fresh-cut bunches of 10 for $7; vases for $8; potted daffodils for $8; and a fresh bunch with vase for $15, which includes delivery to a health-care facility designated by the American Cancer Society.
Advance orders will be accepted until March 1, and daffodils will be available for pickup during the week of March 18 at three locations: 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury; 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River; or the society’s Discovery Shop in the Galleria Mall, Manalapan. Ardena church to host musical for women
The Ardena Baptist Helping Hand will sponsor Daughters of the King, a musical drama written, produced, directed and performed by women to bring hope and healing to women of all ages. The musical will be presented at 10 a.m. March 2 at Ardena Baptist Church, 593 Adelphia Road, Howell. Registration and coffee will begin at 9 a.m. Tickets are $15 and include catered lunch as well as workshops on issues addressed by the drama. Baby-sitting arrangement are available upon request.
