Voters can go to the polls Saturday to support or reject the $1.1 million budget of the Hillsborough Township Board of Fire Commissioners.
In addition to the budget, voters will be able to show their support for incumbent board member Ronald Berju, who is seeking election to his third consecutive term. Mr. Berju is running unopposed for the single seat on the board that is up for election this year.
Among its other responsibilities and objectives, the board allocates municipal tax dollars to support Hillsborough’s three volunteer fire companies.
This year’s budget consists of $180,825 in salaries and benefits, $95,000 for insurance, $127,500 for apparatus and equipment housing, $75,000 for special equipment purchases and $300,000 for new emergency and command vehicles. The respective budgets for Fire Company Nos. 1, 2 and 3 are $59,450, $99,450 and $71,528.
In addition to the fire companies, the Hillsborough Rescue Squad has an operating budget of $7,600, which is included in the board’s total budget.
Polls will be open between 2 and 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hillsborough Township Municipal Building, the Hillsborough School and the Woods Road School.
