Margaret Alice Toomer, 84, died Thursday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Chatham, Va., she lived in Hopewell and Montgomery townships more than 60 years.
She attended Hopewell public schools and worked with the Montgomery Township Election Board many years.
She was a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church of Hopewell, where she was an organist, secretary and chairwoman of the Deaconess Board many years. She was chairwoman of the District and Diocese Deaconess Board of First Born Church of the Living God and a member of its hospitality club.
Daughter of the late Ellis and Pearl Coles and wife of the late John C. Toomer, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Toomer of Montgomery Township; three grandchildren, Ann-Marie Brigil and husband Marcus of Newport News, Va., Sharon L. Toomer of Midlothian, Va., and Stephanie R. Toomer of West Orange; an adopted son, Leroy Whaley and wife Julia; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries, 1217 Calhoun St., Trenton, with Elder Lonnie Reed, pastor of Solid Rock United Pentecostal Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until service at the church.
