TRENTON Betty M. James, 65, died Saturday, March 2, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Concord, Ga., she lived in the Trenton area 49 years.
She attended Georgia public schools and attended Mercer County Vocational Technical School. She retired as head cook supervisor from Mill House Convalescent Center and formerly worked at St. Francis Medical Center and Odd Fellows Nursing Home. She was a member of Mount Calvary Church in Concord.
Daughter of the late Horace and Hassie Neal and sister of the late Liela Walker and Cartha Gates, she is survived by her husband, Humphrey James Sr.; six children, Wilma Harley of Warminster, Pa., Janet James of Pennington, Humphrey James Jr. of Hamilton, Theresa James of Trenton, Mary James of Bristol, Pa., and Anthony James of Trenton; four sisters, Mary Evans of Willingboro, Glenda Stephens of Lawrence, Harlene Cousar of Trenton and Bessielou Harris of Concord; a brother, Tommie Neal of Trenton; two sons-in-law, Dale Harley Sr. and Nabie George; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., with the Rev. Keith Marshall, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until service Friday at the funeral home.
