CARLISLE, Pa. Helen D. Waraksy, 85, died Thursday at Green Ridge Village in Newville.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., she lived in Lawrenceville, N.J., 46 years before moving to Carlisle three years ago.
She retired in 1982 after 26 years as a secretary with the New Jersey Department of Transportation. She also worked part-time in registration for Helene Fuld Medical Center, Trenton.
She was a member of the Church of St. Ann in Lawrence, N.J., AARP and the New Jersey Motor Vehicles Retirees Club. She supported Salesian Missions.
Daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes Sczepanek Midura and wife of the late Joseph J. Waraksy, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Robert A. Handly of Carlisle; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Marcia Waraksy of Lawrenceville; five grandchildren, Heather and Brian Handly, Karen and Kevin Waraksy and Melissa Cassidy; and two great-grandchildren, Julia and Ryan Cassidy.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrence, N.J.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. at Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrence.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hamilton.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church, 140 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, Pa. 17013; or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 98 S. Enola Drive, Enola, Pa. 17025.
