ANDREW JOSEPH BRUDER, 79, of Guttenberg and formerly Rumson, died Feb. 16 at his daughter’s home on Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. He was born in Jersey City. He was an assistant director of career planning and placement at Jersey City State College, retiring in 2000. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Asian-Pacific campaign during World War II. He was predeceased by his son, A.J. Bruder. He is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, M.J. and Paul Munafo of Martha’s Vineyard, Elizabeth and Kenneth Frydman of New York City, Susannah Bruder of San Francisco, and Isabelle and Thomas Smith of Colchester, Conn.; his former wife, Florence Smith Bruder of Fair Haven; two brothers, retired Col. Joseph A. Bruder, U.S.M.C., and John P. Bruder; three sisters, Helen Welter, Camilla Fenton and Margery Jocham; one grandson; one step-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
BENEDICT A. GROSSI, 69, of the River Plaza section of Middletown died Feb. 16 at home. Born in Newark, he lived in Red Bank before moving to River Plaza. He was a consultant for DuPont, Newark, Del. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a volunteer fireman for River Plaza Hose Company No. 1. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Pisciotta Grossi. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Debra Grossi of Lake Havasu City, Ark.; his daughter, Annie Darrow of Toms River; his sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Bruno Lotto of North Arlington; four sisters-in-law, Catherine Colaneri, Elizabeth Notte, Vera Grassi and Sandra Kuzma; three brothers-in-law, Anthony Grassi, Frank Pisciotta and Donald Pisciotta; two grandchildren; and several nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown. WALTER J. CLOUGH, 62, of Rumson died Feb. 26 at home. Born in Montclair, he lived in Monmouth Beach and Montclair prior to moving to Rumson 30 years ago. He was a stockbroker for Buckman, Buckman & Reid, Red Bank, for more than 30 years. Prior to that, he worked for Tucker Anthony, R.L. Day Inc., Fair Haven. He was a member of St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church, Rumson. He is survived by his three sons and a daughter-in-law, William M. Clough of Rumson, Anson C. and Heidi Clough of Marblehead, Mass., and W. Jaques Clough Jr. of New York City; his brother, Anson W. Clough of East Orleans, Mass.; his grandson; and his stepmother. A funeral service was held at St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church, Rumson. Interment was at Rosedale-Rosehill Cemetery, Linden. BENJAMIN R. HARVEY JR., 69, of Red Bank died March 2. born in Oakhurst, he resided in the Wayside section of Tinton Falls prior to moving to Red Bank. He co-owned with his father and brother Benjamin R. Harvey Co., Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, since 1973. Prior to that he was an instructor in radar and satellite communications for the U.S. Army Signal Center and School, Fort Monmouth; and was an instructor and evaluator for the Instructional Methods Division. He served with the U.S. Army during peacetime. An avid golfer, he was a member of the PGA National Golf and Sports Club. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carmelita Harvey Jr. of Red Bank; his son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin R. and Lori Harvey III; his daughter, Lauren Harvey; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church, Wayside section of Tinton Falls. ELIZABETH M. BATCHER, 97, of Red Bank died March 16 at Avante Nursing Home, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she lived in New York City and Hillside prior to moving to Red Bank several years ago. She was a factory worker for Weston Instruments Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 1969. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Batcher. She is survived by her dear friend, Ruth Gollubier of Ocean. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
