I am responding to the guest column by Leslie Savage, who continues to attack Commissioner John Artale of the Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority (JTMUA).
Ms. Savage, you do not know Mr. Artale, who is my husband of 45-plus years, so how can you possibly make these accusations against him? Many people do know my husband and can vouch for his character. He is a man of integrity. He is honest, truthful and a gentleman.
You claim that John was "handsomely rewarded for each and every deciding vote that he cast," that he was "appointed vice chairman of the JTMUA" and that "he voted himself a 100 percent salary increase." Every one of these statements are downright lies. Not one is true.
You are also "demanding his resignation from the JTMUA." Who are you to make this "demand?"
Can’t you get it straight in your head? Don’t you read and understand what you read in the newspapers?
My husband is the most qualified commissioner the JTMUA has had in many years. Why in the world would anyone in Jackson not want him to represent their interests? Because of his many years of experience in the water and waste water industry, he knows what the best and right thing to do is. Do you? What are your qualifications?
By the way, have you ever heard of God’s commandment, which says, "Do not bear false witness against your neighbor?" I suggest that you seriously think about it before you make another false accusation against my husband.
Evelyn Artale
