DONALD H. MESEROLL SR., 76, of South Brunswick died March 19 at The Medical Center at Princeton. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in South Brunswick for the past 32 years. He was a sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Workers Local 27, New Brunswick, for 38 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2319, Milltown, and American Legion Post No. 401, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. He also was a member of the Waxobee Archery Club, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jennie Barrood Meseroll of South Brunswick; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald H. and Nancy Meseroll Jr. of New Brunswick; his daughter, Donna Stover of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick.
RABBI DR. JOSEPH MAZA, 79, died March 17 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. A noted Talmudic scholar, he was rabbi of Congregation Anshe Emeth of South River for 48 years, 1950-1998. Following his rabbinical ordination in 1944, he joined the first postgraduate class of the Yeshiva Gedolah of Lakewood. In 1976 he founded Young Israel of East Brunswick, and in 1983 he established the Union Hill Congregation, Manalapan, where he served as rabbi emeritus until his death. Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Cheryl Strauch of Highland Park, Phyllis Parker of Merion, Pa., and Sandra Gross of Teaneck; two sons, Elliot Maza of Englewood and Alan Maza of Highland Park; two sisters, Gail Schulman and Evelyn Weisman; three brothers, Rabbi Bernard Maza, Rabbi Gabriel Maza and Jackie Mason; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Floral Park Cemetery, South Brunswick.
