Sarah "Sootsie" (Grossman) Speis, 87, died Tuesday, April 2, at Monroe Village Health Care Facility in Monroe.
Born in New Brunswick, she resided in North Brunswick before moving to Monroe four years ago.
She was a member of Poile Zedek Synagogue in New Brunswick of which her late father, Jacob Grossman, was one of the founders. She was a member of the synagogue’s Sisterhood and the North Brunswick Senior Citizens. She was a former member of Deborah.
Her husband, William, died in 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Speis of Readington and David Speis of Bridgewater, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 4, at Selover Funeral Home in North Brunswick. Burial followed at Poile Zedek Cemetery in New Brunswick.
