Center first to address beginners’ questions

There’s more to fishing these days than dangling a worm on a hook. A seminar schedule for Friday night will help beginning fishers young and old learn their ways around the water.
"This is the first seminar of its kind that we will hold here, usually fishing seminars are geared towards serious fishermen learning specific techniques," said Hillsborough Outdoor Sports Center owner Robert Johnsen. "We’ll be trying to get more kids and novices involved and provide more understanding about fishing."
Mr. Johnsen has invited Roger ‘Skip’ Morse of Belle Mead, a fisherman with 40 years of experience and a 2000 New Jersey Big Bass World Champion, to lead the two hour "Take a Kid Fishing " course at his Township Line Road store.
Mr. Morse is also the owner of Great American Furniture on Route 27 in Princeton.
"He gets a lot of information into those two hours, he teaches about the environment, where and how the fish live, it’s very informative," Mr. Johnsen said of Mr. Morse’s seminar.
"The whole program is completely free, with refreshments and door prizes like fishing poles provided by Hillsborough Outdoor Sports Center," Mr. Johnsen said, "If somebody comes in wanting to learn about fishing, they could come out with some free equipment to start them off."
The seminar is open to children 10-years old and up accompanied by a parent and to all novice fishermen, or fishermen to be. The program will be held in the Center’s seminar room at 170 Township Line Road at 7 p.m. on Friday.
