Corner Cafe opens to the public again

About a year after it closed its doors to the public, the Corner Cafe has re-opened on Main Street.
The cafe, which offers breakfast and lunch items, officially opened on Wednesday to the public. For the last year, the cafe was strictly a catering facility.
John Davison, who has owned the business since 1999, said staffing problems last spring forced him to shut down the cafe and focus instead on catering.
"Last April we had a decision to make," said Mr. Davison. "Either continue to build our catering division or drop the thought altogether. Staffing dilemmas forced us to steer the ship in the direction of corporate catering. Simply put, catering was more manageable."
In recent months, however, Mr. Davison said he has formed a reliable staff that can assist him in running the deli portion of the cafe.
"I am now relying on staff that I have been working with for six months," said Mr. Davison.
Mr. Davison said the cafe features all of the same items it did before. Commuters can stop in for a newspaper, coffee, Danish pastry or bagel on their way to work.
For the lunch crowd, the cafe offers soups and a salad bar complete with pasta salads and fruit.
The cafe also features hand-dipped and novelty ice cream and a Saturday morning breakfast menu with hot and cold items.
The Corner Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Patrons are encouraged to pick up a Sandwich Club Card, and get a complimentary sandwich with every nine purchased. In addition, employees of village businesses, including the Cranbury School, receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases.
