The Howell Board of Education is seeking citizen members to serve on the following board committees for the 2002-2003 school year: buildings and grounds, community relations; education, facilities, finance, nutritional advisory, policy, safety, ad hoc technology, and ad hoc transportation. Interested Howell residents are asked to submit a letter of application, including address, home telephone number, business telephone number and three committee choices, to Herbert C. Massa, Assistant Superintendent/Board Secretary, Howell Board of Education, P.O. Box 579, Howell 07731. The deadline for submissions is May 21.

FTHS Music Parents to

host art auction May 4

The Freehold Township Music Parents Association will hold an art auction fund-raiser at 8 p.m. May 4 at the high school, Elton-Adelphia Road.

Proceeds will benefit the school’s performing arts programs, provide scholarships, and fund trips to music and Broadway performances and Great Adventure, where students will perform.

The preview will be held at 7 p.m. and will feature a performance by band members under the direction of Edward Gattsek. Light refreshments will be served.

Marlin Fine Art Auctions will offer bidders more than 150 pieces of artwork, including originals, prints, animation cells and sports memorabilia, at below gallery costs. All framing and matting has already been done by Marlin, and all art is guaranteed.

‘Project Graduation’

A fund-raiser for Colts Neck High School’s "Project Graduation" will be held from 3-9 p.m. May 13 at Barnes & Noble, Routes 9 and 33, Freehold Township. "Project Graduation" will receive 20 percent of the total sales on all paperbacks, hard cover books and gift items purchased during the event. Supporters must pick up a voucher at the door and present it at the time of purchase.

During the fund-raiser, members of the high school’s child development program will hold a story time for children from 4-5 p.m. The high school’s summer reading lists will also be available at the store.

Jewish community

center sets golf outing

The Jewish Community Center of Western Monmouth will hold its annual golf outing on May 20 at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan.

Registration will begin at noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cocktails, awards dinner, and sports and raffle drawings will follow the tournament.

The cost is $165 per player and in-cludes greens fee, cart, range, balls, lunch, cocktails, awards dinner, gifts and gratuities. For dinner only, the cost is $75. For more information call (732) 683-9300.
