Concert of symphonic music slated May 19
The Monmouth Symphony Orchestra, Lincroft section of Middletown, will present a concert of symphonic music May 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Paramount Theater, Sunset Avenue, Asbury Park.
Featured flute soloist will be Sarah Rajtmajer, who has been studying flute since age 9 and has performed with the Kings’ Conservatory, Middletown since age 11, according to a press release. She is a student at Columbia University, New York, City, where she is also a member of its orchestra.

‘Retirement Stinks’ to open at playhouse May 3
The First Avenue Playhouse, 123 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands, will present Retirement Stinks May 3-June 1. Show times are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m., and a matinee May 19 at 2:30 p.m.
Prices range from $15-$29 for the Dennis Driscoll comedy centering around a husband and wife, and a blond "bimbo."

Club trip to ‘Barefoot
in the Park’ May 4
The Young Widow/Widowers Social Group will hold a trip to see Barefoot in the Park May 4 at 8:15 p.m. at the Navesink Library Theatre, Sears and Monmouth Avenues, Navesink section of Middletown.

‘Long Live the Beatles’ slated for May 4
Thorne Middle School, will host "Long Live the Beatles" May 4 at 7 p.m. at the school at Murphy Road, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. Tickets are $15 at the door, and $12 in advance.
The event will be performed by former members of the Broadway cast of Beatlemania. Proceeds will benefit Middletown North High School class of 2002.

‘Photography for Adults’ to begin May 9 at Poricy
Poricy Park, Oak Hill Road, Middletown, will offer "Photography for Adults" May 2, 9, 23 and 30 from 7-9 p.m. Cost is $130 for nonmembers and $100 for members, which includes film and development. Attendees must bring a 35-mm manual SLR camera.
Class size is limited to eight individuals. Attendees will learn composition, lighting, and work with color slides to learn the basics of nature photography. For more information or to register, call (732) 842-5966.
Newcomers’ trip to Crayola Factory May 4
The Middletown Newcomers Club will hold a trip to the Crayola Factory, Pennsylvania, May 4. "Ladies Night Out" will be May 14 at Bistro Bar, Middletown. Cost is $45, plus $2 for nonmembers.
A day at Longstreet Farm, Holmdel, will be May 21, and will featured an educational tour and wagon ride around Holmdel Park. "Family Day at Monmouth Racetrack" will be held June 23.

Artist’s reception to be held at library May 4
Middletown Township Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, will hold an artist’s reception for watercolorist Marilyn Burns on May 4 from 2-4 p.m.
A resident of Avon-by-the-Sea, her work has been shown at the Art Alliance, Red Bank, and the Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury.
The library will have "Staff Development Day" May 7, and all Middletown libraries will be closed. No library materials will be due that day.

Talk on Lenape culture slated for May 6
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will sponsor a talk on the Lenape culture May 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Poricy Park, Oak Hill Road, Middletown. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Beverly Friend will discuss "Lenape Culture: an Introduction to Native American Life in New Jersey."
