Solution must be sought on New Jersey property tax issue

The defeat of the Freehold Regional High School District budget by more than a whopping 2-1 margin should send a clear message to Marlboro’s political leaders.

The people are sick and tired of the high real estate taxes which have increased dramatically in recent years.

It is time the Township Council and the zoning and planning boards completely stop rezoning to meet developers’ greed to build more and more new homes.

At this point, educators are having a tough time dealing with overcrowded classrooms of 25 to 30 students. Students in these large classes cannot optimally learn.

There has to be a better way of developing our town, maintaining a stable tax base and educating our young people.

Perhaps we really need to look to break away from the regional district and provide high school education on our own. This certainly would eliminate the student redistribution scenario.
