ELLIS FOSTER HULL JR., 94, of Allentown died April 23 at Tandem Health Care Center, Lawrence Township. Born in Springfield, Mass., he spent his younger years in Franklin, Vt., and moved to Allentown in 1950. Mr. Hull was a retired editor and publisher of the Allentown Messenger. He graduated from the Vermont Academy and from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa. He also attended the Harvard School of Business, Cambridge, Mass. He was a 50-year member of both the Allentown Presbyterian Church and the Allentown Lions Club. Mr. Hull was an Allentown Borough Council member from 1974 to 1991 and served as its president from 1979 to 1991. He was a founder of the Allentown Historical Society and was instrumental in the formation of the Allentown Public Library. Mr. Hull was predeceased by his wife, Helen Naylor Hull. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Sidney Olson of Allentown; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Musser of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a niece; and several cousins and friends. Funeral services were held at the Allentown Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
