Pennington establishes tree program

The planting of a tree can be a lasting gift to commemorate the birth of a child, Mother’s or Father’s Day and/or birthday

The Pennington Shade Tree Commission has established a Memorial Tree Planting Program for the citizens of Pennington.
Any person can purchase a tree to honor a loved one or in memory of a loved one. The planting of a tree can be a lasting gift to commemorate the birth of a child, Mother’s or Father’s Day and/or birthday. When the tree is planted, a small inscribed granite stone can be installed at the tree base. The 6-by 10-inch stone limits the inscription to eight letters. The stone will be secured in the ground when the tree is planted.
The Shade Tree Commission will exercise final determination of the tree location and species. There will be a spring planting, between March 1 and April 15, and a fall planting from Oct. 1 to Nov. 15.
Donors will assume a one-time cost of $150 for the purchase of the tree and stone. The Borough of Pennington and the Shade Tree Commission are not responsible for the replacement of any tree or stone once installed.
To order a memorial tree, refer to the brochure available at Pennington Borough Hall, 30 N. Main St., Pennington, or Queenstown Gallery, 43 S. Main St., Pennington.
