EAST WINDSOR Police announced last week the arrest of a suspect in a recent spate of robberies at the Windsor Castle Apartments on Dorchester Road.
Andres Sarmiento, 26, a resident of the apartments, was arrested April 24 in an ongoing police investigation of the burglaries at Windsor Castle in the past month.
Detective Sgt. William Froehlich said the arrest was made after receiving "critical evidence," with the assistance of the Trenton Police Department, pertaining to the case. Sgt. Froehlich said he is not at liberty to discuss the investigation further, as it is still pending.
Sgt. Froehlich and Detective Jeffrey Valentino made the arrest of Mr. Sarmiento, who is charged with six counts of burglary and theft and criminal mischief at the Windsor Castle Apartments, as well as a burglary April 22 at the Kensington Arms Apartments, police said. Mr. Sarmiento is currently held at the Mercer County Corrections Center. His bail was set at $100,000, with a 10-percent option.
Police did not say which of the robberies in the past month they suspect were committed by Mr. Sarmiento.
In an ongoing effort with Trenton police, Sgt. Froehlich said East Windsor police hope to make further arrests as well as recover some of the stolen property.
Police said that any residents of the buildings with further information on the robberies should contact Detective Valentino at 448-5678.
