Otto Kaufman
Montgomery farmer, mayor
MONTGOMERY Otto Kaufman died Friday at home. He was 82.
Born in Luxheim, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1938 with his brother, Ernest. Together, they purchased a farm from their cousin in Montgomery Township, establishing a poultry and dairy farm that he operated until 1986.
During World War II, Mr. Kaufman ran a summer camp on the farm for refugee children.
Mr. Kaufman served on the Montgomery Township Committee for two terms, during which he served two years as mayor. He served 25 years on the Somerset County Planning Board and 20 years on the Montgomery Township Planning Board.
In 1976, he was a founder and director of Montgomery National Bank.
He was a charter and life member of the Fire Company No. 46 in Blawenburg as well as a founding member of The Jewish Center in Princeton and its Men’s Club.
He served on the board of directors of the Belle Mead Farmers Co-op and was a longtime member of the Montgomery Republican Club.
He was recognized by the New Jersey Assembly by proclamation in 1987 for his years of service to Somerset County and Montgomery Township.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kaufman; son Charles Kaufman of Lebanon; daughter Peggy Fass of Montgomery, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Sunday.

Pierina Perna Stefanelli of Princeton Township died Monday at The Medical Center at Princeton. She was 87.
Born in Pettoranello, Italy, she came to Princeton from Pettoranello in 1936.
She was a former seamstress in the Princeton area.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Society.
Sister of the late Umberto Perna, Claudino Perna and Armando Perna, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Anthony Stefanelli; sons and daughters-in-law Anthony Jr. and Linda Stefanelli of Pennington, and Carmen and Arlene Stefanelli of Princeton; daughters Luci Stefanelli Robson of Pennington; brother Michael Perna of Princeton; sister Elvira Tamasi of Princeton; grandchildren Deborah Stefanelli, Wendy Ward, Anthony M. Stefanelli and Tracy Klurman; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
Funeral liturgy will be 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
Burial will be in Princeton Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jean F. LaSelle
Retired librarian
WEST WINDSOR Jean F. LaSelle died Saturday at home. She was 77.
Born and raised in Hamilton Square, she was a member of Hamilton Square Baptist Church and its Sunday school.
She resided in Orchard Park, N.Y., Wrightstown, Pa., and Livonia, Mich., before moving to West Windsor in 1971.
She retired after 21 years with the West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck, serving as deacon, elder and church school superintendent. She was active in various church groups, including the Corner Brighteners and Women’s Circle, and helped establish the children’s library for the congregation.
Daughter of the late Harry Dallas and Marjorie Conover Fogg, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, John "Bert" LaSelle; sons and daughter-in-law John "Paul" LaSelle of Robbinsville and David and Caryn LaSelle of Highland, Mich.; brother Francis "Dallas" Fogg of St. Paul, Minn.; grandchildren and their spouses Michael and Karen LaSelle and Michelle and Matthew Cowan; and great-grandson Connor LaSelle.
The funeral will be 11 a.m., today at First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck with the Revs. Floyd W. Churn and Karen Anderson-Dent co-officiating.
Visiting period is 10:30 a.m. until time of service in the church’s fellowship hall.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the church’s fellowship hall.

Retired beautician
Grace E. Busch of Princeton Township died Saturday at home. She was 80.
Born in Trenton, she was a Princeton resident since 1947.
A beautician for 42 years, she retired in 1986 from the Beauty Nest Salon on Nassau Street after 10 years.
She was a graduate of Trenton High School and LaTour Academy of Beauty Culture in Trenton.
She was a charter member of the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary. She served as treasurer and recording secretary during her 43 years of service with the auxiliary.
Wife of the late Kenneth B. Busch, she is survived by son Kenneth B. Busch Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law Joan and Joseph Hall of Port Richie, Fla.; two nephews and one niece; and close friend Kay L. Price.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
Burial will be at Princeton Cemetery.

Jemima B. McBryde
Longtime housekeeper
Jemima "Mina" Beaton McBryde of Princeton died Monday at home. She was 92.
Born in Aberdeen Scotland, she attended school in Aberdeen and immigrated to the United States in 1930.
She worked as a nanny in Scarsdale, N.Y. before moving to Princeton in 1934, where she began work as the housekeeper for A. A. Gulick until his death in 1959.
During World War II, she was active with the British Ex-Servicemen’s war relief program.
Mrs. McBryde was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and, after a merger, Nassau Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Princeton Chapter 91 OES and Victory Chapter 96 OES of Hamilton Square. She was also active in Clan Donald USA and traveled all over the United States to its many functions.
Daughter of the late Alexander and Elspeth Beaton, wife of the late Angus L. McBryde, she is survived by son Angus L. McBryde Jr. of Princeton; daughter Linda Gallo of Montgomery; brother James Beaton of Aberdeen Scotland; sister Gladys Beaton of Meadow Lakes; niece Elsie Toon of Hightstown; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews of Hightstown and Aberdeen, Scotland. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Theresa McBryde and Evelyn McKeithan and several nieces and nephews in North Carolina.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton.

Longtime West Windsor resident
WEST WINDSOR Warren G. Sheehan of West Windsor died Thursday at Plaza Regency at the Windrows, Plainsboro. He was 81.
Born in Jersey City and a former Atlantic Highlands resident, he lived in West Windsor 44 years.
Husband of the late Nancy Sheehan, he is survived by daughters Suzanne Corcoran of Canberra, Australia, Denise Anderson of Denver and Molly Sheehan of Princeton; son Michael Sheehan of Jersey City; sister Pat Norris of West Palm Beach Fla.; brother Francis Sheehan of Lakewood; and grandchildren Jarl Anderson, Heaven Sheehan and Matthew, Benjamin and Katie Weber.
A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. David the King Church, New Village Road, West Windsor.
A private burial service will be at Princeton Cemetery.

Eight-year Plainsboro resident
PLAINSBORO Teodoro S. Guerrero died Friday at home. He was 64.
Born in Manila, Philippines, he was a resident of Connecticut before moving to Plainsboro eight years ago.
Son of the late Aurelio Guerrero, he is survived by his wife, Teresita Mendinueto; sons Teodoro M. Guerrero of Rahway and Terrence Guerrero of Plainsboro; daughter Tricia Labracio of Sarasota, Fla.; mother Delores Guerrero of Winnipeg, Canada; sisters Cynthia Pichay and Lita Cabral, both of Norwich, Conn., and Basita Bourbon and Jenny Sales, both of the Philippines; and brother Aurelio Guerrero Jr.
Services were held Monday.
