Robert Spencer

   MANVILLE — Robert E. Spencer died Sunday, July 7, in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. He was 78.
   Born in Avoca, Pa., he lived in Manville for 50 years.
   Mr. Spencer was a forklift driver at Johns-Manville Corp. in Manville for 25 years. During that time he also worked as a truck driver for Perozzi Trucking in Somerville. After his employment there, he worked for Olivetti in the shipping and packaging department for 10 years, retiring in 1991.
   He was a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club.
   A son, Robert C. Spencer, died in 1973.
   Surviving are his wife, Dora Fino Spencer; a son, Raymond P. of Pipersville, Pa.; two daughters, Helen Steffel and Carol Straszewski of Manville; one sister, Thelma Malashebitz of Cape May Court House; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services were held July 11 in Bridgewater Funeral Home, Bridgewater, followed by a funeral liturgy in Sacred Heart Church in Manville. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
