After reading Mayor David Spaulding’s recent comments regarding former President Carter and the trade embargo with Cuba, I can’t help but wonder why our local problems aren’t addressed with the same zeal as his apparent fascination with presidents past. (Who could forget his spellbinding account of the plane ride with Bill Clinton?)
Our town is plagued by increasing taxes which are forcing our seniors and longtime residents out. Our roadways are rapidly deteriorating, our parks are poorly maintained, and our ponds and streams neglected. Our crime rate is rising while our per capita cost for police is one of the highest in Middlesex County.
In a nutshell, the overall quality of life in North Brunswick has taken a downward turn as we are paying more and getting less.
I suggest Mr. Spaulding spend less time focusing on national policy and more time on the job he was elected to do.
