A forklift attachment — belonging to the construction firm of J.B. Contracting of Wharton — used on a front-end loader was stolen from the construction site of Stony Brook Elementary School, Hopewell Township police Lt. George Meyer said Monday.
A front-end loader is a heavy piece of earth-moving equipment.
The new school, located in the 1,300-unit Brandon Farms development in the southeastern tip of Hopewell Township, is scheduled to be open in time for the beginning of the 2002-2003 academic year.
The theft of the forklift attachment, which is valued at $2,600, took place between Aug. 5 and 8, Lt. Meyer said. The theft was reported at 1:40 p.m. Aug. 8.
William Springer was the responding township patrolman.
