RITA "JANN" HURLEY, 37, of Farmingdale died Aug. 12 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Neptune, she was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale. She was an assembler at Air Cruisers, Wall, for 15 years. She is survived by a daughter, Jannette Hurley of Farmingdale; her father, Raymond Borden of Farmingdale; her mother and stepfather, Rita Mae and Paul Perkert of Hertford, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray L. and Denise Borden of Smithdale, Miss.; her companion and his daughter, Tom Ruggieri and Sarah Ruggieri, both of Farmingdale; and three nieces. JOHN J. TRAHIM, 86, of Millstone died Aug. 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Matawan, he lived in Marlboro and in Jackson for 20 years before moving to Millstone. He was a body man at General Motors Auto Assembly Plant, Linden, for more than 34 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Oakshades baseball team and was the manager of several other minor league teams in the Keyport/Matawan area. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Mike Palocin of Jackson, Catherine and Kenneth Dietrich of Matawan, Elizabeth and Steven Seminara of Wacabuc, N.Y., and Sue and Peter Kudrick of Millstone; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold.

EDWARD J. CHERMAK, 84, of Jackson died Aug. 8 in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Paterson, Ortley Beach and Freehold Township before moving to Jackson last February. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an inspector for Curtis Wright, Lodi, before his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Chermak, in 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Chermak, with whom he lived; a sister, Julie Pross of Virginia; and two grandchildren. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. ELSIE MARGARET PULCHLOPEK, 85, of Howell died Aug. 6 at The Manor Care Center, Freehold Township. Born in Newark, she lived in Kearny before moving to the Freehold area in 1967. She was a secretary for Foodarama, Freehold, from 1968 to 1982. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and a past worthy matron of Molly Pitcher Chapter No. 198, both Freehold. She was also a former Girl Scout leader. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward S., in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Ronald S. of Howell and Kenneth E. of Freehold; two daughters, Carol L. Froman of Richmond, Va., and Elsie E. Egan of Dunnellon, Fla.; and five grandchildren. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. JANIS MAE CONOVER, 56, of Freehold died Aug. 7 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Long Branch, she lived in Millstone and Asbury Park before moving to Freehold. She was a store manager at Lechter’s in Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township, until she became disabled. She was a graduate of Allentown High School and a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E. Church, Manalapan, where she was a stewardess and missionary. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Adams of Freehold and Stephanie A. Jackson of Long Branch; a brother, Carl A. Conover of Lakewood; four sisters, Gladys Thompkins, Ella Frazer and Evelyn Joseph, all of Lakewood, and Sandra A. Conover of Freehold; and four grandchildren. Interment took place at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.

HARRY G. VEROS, 71, of Wickenburg, Ariz., formerly of Milltown, North Brunswick and the New Egypt section of Plumsted, died Aug. 6 in Dell E. Webb Hospital, Sun City, Ariz. He was a former part-time Milltown police officer. His first wife, Vilma Visokay Veros, died in 1981. Surviving are his wife, Betty Mayer Veros; two daughters, Deborah David of Lehighton, Pa., and Donna Vitola of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Heidi Kerwan of Congress, Ariz.; two stepsons, Jeffrey Mayer of Camp Verde, Ariz., and Tony Mayer of Phoenix; and five grandchildren. A liturgy was offered at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church, New Brunswick. Interment was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
