will honor 9/11 victims

Spotswood will hold a ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 in the parking lot of the municipal complex, Summerhill Road, to honor those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The event, co-organized by Laura Bacskoczky and Carol Barton, will include a variety of musical and symbolic tributes. Speakers will include Carol Barton, Mayor Barry Zagnit, Police Chief Karl Martin, Fire Chief J.C. Worley and First Aid Squad Capt. Leo Servis.

The audience will light glow sticks, and a Port Authority police officer will conduct a tolling of the bell. Bagpiper Ken Dawson of the Marine Corps League will perform. The event will conclude with the raising of the American flag and the singing of "God Bless America."

Parking for the vigil will be at Spotswood High School. In case of rain, the event will be held in the high school cafetorium.
