Center honors nine during National Nurses Week

Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, recently honored several nurses during National Nurses Week. Capturing the Teresa Birmingham, R.N., Nursing Leadership Award was Sheila Banfield, Long Branch. Banfield works on an inpatient unit, and was commended for being an efficient team leader and player.

The award was established by Maureen Swick, R.N., vice president of patient care services at Monmouth, in memory of her mother, a nurse for several years.

Long Branch residents and licensed practical nurses Patricia Mancini and Rebecca Wade were honored with the Ocean Primary Care Excellence in Care L.P.N. Award. The award recognizes nurses who promote patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and teamwork. Both women are inpatient nurses at Monmouth.

The award is given by Zorica Mercadante, M.D., and Charles L. Spellman, D.O., of Ocean Primary Care, West Long Branch.

Honored with the Maysie Stroock Memorial Award for Excellence in Bedside Nursing were registered nurses Catherine Gibbons of Jackson, and Susan Pandozzi of Freehold. Howell resident Eileen Fuorry was the recipient of the Angela Gilvary Nurse Millennium Award which recognizes those in management and supervisory roles.
