sets candidates forum
The Monday Morning Advocacy Network of Middlesex County will hold a Town Hall Meeting and Candidates Forum for Disability Issues and Other Current Events from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the Thomas J. English Municipal Building, Old Bridge Civic Center, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.
Monday Morning is a grassroots, nonpartisan and cross-disability initiative established by the New Jersey Developmental Disabilities Council to encourage citizens with disabilities, their families and representatives of various agencies and organizations to work with legislators and other public officials in enacting legislation and policies to help New Jersey citizens with disabilities.
The first part of the meeting will be set aside for network members to address candidates for Senate, Congress and Surrogate representing Middlesex County. Topics may include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), accessibility, the Medicaid Community Services and Supports Act (MiCASSA), transportation, affordable housing, health care, education, employment and voting.
During the second portion of the meeting, all members of the public will address the candidates on any current issues that will have an impact on New Jersey. Topics may include homeland security, terrorism, health care, rent control, open space, corporate fraud, redistricting and other general issues of interest to citizens with and without disabilities.
