The first meeting of the Central Jersey Jazz Association will take place at 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.
The emphasis will be on jazz and blues. Studies of both male and female instrumentalists and vocalists also will be discussed.
Guest speakers and live music presentations are planned for each meeting. The first gathering will feature Vincent Pelote, librarian at the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies, Newark. Pelote also is a musician, lecturer, author and disc jockey on WBGO-FM Radio, where he and other staff members host the award-winning Jazz From the Archives program.
