Terhune Orchards to host apple picking for the hungry

   On Monday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m., students from The Cambridge School in Pennington, The Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, and employees from Bristol-Myers Squibb in Plainsboro will gather at Terhune Orchards in Lawrence to pick apples for the hungry.
   There will be nearly 300 volunteers taking part in the apple picking. The apples will then be distributed by Farmers Against Hunger to organizations and citizens of Mercer and surrounding counties.
   Farmers Against Hunger is a program of the New Jersey Agricultural Society.Started by area farmers in 1996, the program now helps to feed almost 5,000 people weekly.
   The owners of Terhune Orchards, Pam and Gary Mount, are steady contributors to Farmers Against Hunger. Each year the Mounts invite many organizations and individuals to their orchard to pick apples for the hungry.
