VERNICE "LIZ" RIOPEL, 70, of Toms River, died Sept. 13 at home. Born in Belzoni, Miss., she lived in Marlboro for many years before moving to Toms River seven years ago. Mrs. Riopel was an assembly person for Air Cruisers Inc., Belmar, for 30 years before retiring in 1989. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, who died in 1998. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Michael Getmanov of Howell; two brothers, Roy Cobb of Howell and Pete Cobb of Fairburn, Ga.; two sisters, Sally Jane Chamberlain of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Audrey Casey of Deltona, Fla.; and one granddaughter. Interment took place at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
MICHAEL J. ADORNETTO, 89, of Marl-boro, died Sept. 5 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Hoboken, he had lived in Jersey City before moving to Marlboro in 1987. Mr. Adornetto was a railroad worker for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Hoboken, where he was employed for 50 years before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro; a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1509, Lyndhurst; and a member of Deborah Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Adornetto was predeceased by his wife, Anna, who died in 1999; and a brother, Charles, who died in 2001. Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. of Marlboro and John M. of Howell; a sister, Katherine Elia of Eatontown; and a grandson. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by entombment at Forest Green Park Mausoleum, Marlboro. FLORENCE KAUFER, 91, of Keyport, died Sept. 6 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Mamaroneck, N.Y., she lived in Hazlet prior to moving to Keyport several months ago. She was employed at the sample room at Lily Tulip, Holmdel. for five years, retiring in 1973. Prior to that, she was employed at N.J. and N.Y. Bell for 45 years, retiring in 1960. She is survived by her husband, Fred Kaufer of Keyport; three sons, Robert Cammerano of Lakewood, John Cammerano of Whiting, and Joseph Cammerano of San Bernadino, Calif.; her stepson, Robert Kaufer of Hazlet; three sisters, Emma Fritzche of Whiting, Louise Burger of Hawley, Pa., and Dolly Bose of New York; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
IDA ANASTASIA LANCASTER, 78, of West Long Branch, died Sept. 6 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Jersey City, she relocated to Long Branch in 1948, and lived there and in Oceanport prior to moving to West Long Branch. She was treasurer and tax collector for the borough of Oceanport for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a parishioner, treasurer and member of the Old First United Methodist Church, West Long Branch. She was a 30-year member and past grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 266, Eatontown. She was also a member and past grand officer of the Daughter of the Nile, Trenton. She was predeceased by her husband, Rocco Anastasia in 1961, and her husband, Mahlon Lancaster in 1982. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Heidi Anastasia of Massachusetts, and Michael and Darlene Anastasia of Howell; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Anastasia and Steve Trachtenberg of West Long Branch, and Theresa Anastasia of Long Branch; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother; and seven sisters. A memorial service was held at the Old First United Methodist Church, West Long Branch. A committal service was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
BRUCE CHRISTOPHER MARKS, 54, of Jackson, died Aug. 30 at home. He was born in Detroit, Mich. and had lived in Howell Township before moving to Jackson Township four years ago. He was formerly a director at Telecordia Technologies, Lincroft, where he was employed for five years. He was a graduate of Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and earned a master’s degree in international business from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Business, Glendale, Ariz., Aug. 1974. He earned a master’s degree in engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, at age 52. He was fluent in five languages and visited more than 90 countries on business and pleasure. A devout Christian, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Freehold. He was active in showing antique automobiles, shared an interest with his wife and daughter in showing horses and dogs, and was an avid chess and tennis player. Surviving are his wife, Kristie Burkholder Marks; a daughter, Taylor Melissa Mary Marks of Jackson; his father, David T. Marks of Glen Arbor, Mich.; two brothers, Steve Marks of Sacramento, Calif., and Larry Marks of Laguna Beach, Calif. Memorial donations may be made to Come Alive Ministries, P.O. JAMES O’DEA, 92, of Jackson, died Sept. 9 in Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was born in Ireland and had lived in West Orange before moving to Jackson 37 years ago. Mr. O’Dea was employed as a car dealer for Bergen Cadillac in Paterson and was also the owner of Esquire Motors in Lakewood. He was a World War II captain in the Canadian armed forces. He is survived by his wife, Helen Sachok O’Dea of Jackson; a sister, Pat Schneider of Florida; and a niece, Lynn Faugno of Point Pleasant. Interment was in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Jackson.
