Helen Whitney

   Helen M. Whitney, 93, of Monroe, died Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Medical Center at Princeton.
   Born in Philadelphia, she lived in Collingswood for 25 years and attended Camden Catholic High School. She lived in Silver Spring, Md., for four years and finally settled at Clearbrook in Monroe in 1976, where she lived for 26 years.
   Ms. Whitney received her nurse’s training from Cooper Medical Center School of Nursing and had a 40-year registered nurse career there, serving as a supervisor of nursing and also as an instructor until her retirement in 1968. She was a long time member of the Cooper Hospital Alumni Association and served as Chairperson of the Cooper Nurses Institute Conference. She volunteered her services to the American Red Cross in teaching Capacity and assisted with the nursing services at University Nursing Home in Silver Spring.
   Surviving are her sisters, Elizabeth Dollarton of Silver Spring and Rita Whitney of Monroe; a niece, Mary Macsay of Brookeville, Md., and two nephews, Joseph Dollarton of Waldorf, Md. and James Dollarton of Hollywood, Md., and eight grandnieces and nephews.
   Funeral and interment will be held in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Local funeral arrangements were under M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
